Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and Ansor Youth Movement of Nahdlatul Ulama Organized Joint Iftar and Charity Donation

On April 23, the Embassy of China in Indonesia and Ansor Youth Movement of Nahdlatul Ulama, the largest Muslim organization in Indonesia, jointly organized Iftar and charity donation in a hybrid event (online and offline).

The Embassy's Counsellor Mr. Qiu Xinli, and the Deputy Secretary General of Nahdlatul Ulama and Deputy General President of Ansor Youth Movement Mr. Syarif Munawi attended and delivered a speech.

Counsellor Qiu, on behalf of the Chinese embassy, paid tribute to the Muslims in Indonesia for Ramadan and said that in recent years, under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo, China-Indonesia relations have been consolidating and showing more concrete achievements. Islam has a long history in China. China has developed good relations with the Islamic world.  Islamic exchanges between China and Indonesia are widely acknowledged. The Chinese embassy has held joint Iftars and charitable donations with Nahdlatul Ulama for many years, and is ready to continue the exchanges and cooperation with Nahdlatul Ulama to promote mutual recognition and understanding, and lay a solid social foundation for the development of relations between the two countries.

In his speech, Deputy General President Syarif Munawi  positively evaluated the development of Chinese-Indonesian relations and the history of their friendly exchanges. He thanked the Chinese embassy for donating Ramadan parcels, and appreciated that the embassy's charitable donations transcend differences in religion, nationality and ethnicity, which reflected the noble humanitarian spirit.

On behalf of Ansor Youth Movement and the Chinese embassy, Deputy General President Syarif Munawi presented Ramadan parcels containing rice, sugar, cooking oil and other necessities to the representatives of NU orphans.
