Chinese Embassy in Indonesia And Chinese Mission to ASEAN Holds Online Reception on the Occasion of the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of The People’s Republic of China

On the afternoon of 28 September, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and the Chinese Mission to ASEAN held an online reception to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). H.E. Lu Kang, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Deng Xijun, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, Representatives of the Indonesian Government H.E. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment and H.E. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Trade, H.E. Ahmad Muzani, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly, and H.E. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, General Chairman of Democratic Party, H.E. Robert Matheus Michael Tene, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN attended the reception both online and offline. Also presenting at the event were over 400 friends from Indonesian government, parliament, political parties, think tank, religious organizations, foreign diplomatic envoys in Indonesia and representatives of Chinese companies, overseas Chinese and Chinese teachers.

In his remarks, Ambassador Lu Kang thanked friends from all walks of life attending the event and said that 73 years on, led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people strive to earn remarkable achievements. Particularly in the last decade, despite various challenges, we stay committed to our own path of development and have brought about a moderately prosperous society in all respects. We have alleviated all Chinese people out of absolute poverty. A new journey of socialism with Chinese characteristics is right ahead of us. In the past 10 years, further economic progress has been made. Chinese economy has become more balanced, coordinated and sustained. A new development paradigm is in the making. We follow the new vision of innovative, coordinated, green and open development for all. We take care of our people to the best of our capacity in COVID-19. People’s life is our top priority. Every life matters. A new era has come in China’s foreign relations. We work for a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation. We pursue a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ambassador Lu pointed out that China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is growing at full steam. Last July, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President Joko Widodo paid a successful visit to China, becoming the first foreign head of state to visit China ever since Beijing Winter Olympics. The two countries agree to march toward the China-Indonesia community with a shared future. Political, economic, people-to-people and maritime cooperation are four pillars of the bilateral relations. Practical cooperation has been fruitful. As major developing countries, China and Indonesia maintain close contact on multilateral arena, contributing to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity. China-ASEAN relations have made great strides. Last November, President Xi Jinping chaired the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations. Leaders announced the establishment of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. China and ASEAN jointly uphold multilateralism, work together for post-COVID recovery, and deepen all-round practical cooperation.

Ambassador Lu said that the 20th CPC National Congress will be held on 16 October. This a crucial conference at a critical moment in China’s development. Under CPC’s leadership, Chinese people of all ethnic groups will endeavor to build a great modern socialist country. We will unite as one for the great renewal of the Chinese nation. A new starting point is in front of us. China-Indonesia and China-ASEAN relations will embrace more promising prospects. Together, we will deliver better lives to our peoples, a community with a shared future to Asia, and fairness, justice and prosperity to the world.

Coordinating Minister Luhut congratulated the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, wished great success for the 20th National Congress of the CPC. He spoke highly of China’s achievements in various areas and increasing international influence in the past 73 years. Coordinating Minister Luhut thanked China for providing anti-COVID medical supplies, and pointed out the close-knit relationship between Belt and Road Initiative and Global Maritime Fulcrum Strategy, increasing two-way trade and investment, fruitful outcomes from cooperation in supply chains, green transition and vaccines and genomics. Indonesia supports Global Development Initiative and prepared to actively participate in it. Indonesia looks forward to President Xi Jinping’s attendance on the G20 Summit in Bali in November. 

Minister Zulkifli, in his remarks, congratulated the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He emphasized that deepening trade and investment cooperation has boosted the development of bilateral relations and benefited the two peoples. 

H.E. Bambang Soesatyo, Chaiman of the People’s Consultative Assembly, Dr. Abdul Halim Iskandar, Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, H.E. L.T. Handoko, Chairman of National Research and Innovation Agency, Police Commissioner General Pertrus R. Golose, Head of the National Narcotics Board, H.E. Robert Matheus Michael Tene, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, and other officials also congratulated the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and wished new progress to be made in China’s economic and social development, China-Indonesia relations, and China-ASEAN relations via video link.

The reception also featured video clips showing the achievements of China’s economic and social development and the fruitful China-Indonesia practical cooperation, a work collection of “Halo China” Short Film Competition, and traditional Chinese dancing performed by diplomats of the Embassy.
