Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with Blooming Flowers and Full Moon, Chinese Embassy in Indonesia Holds Open House

On September 27, 2023, Chinese Embassy in Indonesia held open house, themed "Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with Full Flowers and Full Moon".

Ambassador Lu Kang delivered remarks. More than 100 Indonesian friends from local universities, media, religious groups, and think tanks, followers of the Embassy's social media accounts, and diplomats from the Embassy joined the event.

In his remarks, Ambassador Lu Kang thanked Indonesian friends, especially young friends, for their interest in China and China-Indonesia relations, and encouraged the young generation of the two countries to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning. Ambassador Lu said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo, China-Indonesia relations are now at its best in history. Looking ahead, the bilateral relations have broad prospects and unlimited potential rooted in the people. It is hoped that this open house will help more Indonesian friends, especially young friends, further understand Chinese people and culture, and promote China-Indonesia friendly relations.

At the event, traditional folk music performed by local Chinese artists, traditional dance presented by diplomats from the Embassy, Peking opera and four-handed piano pieces performed by children from the Embassy won rounds of applause.

Indonesian friends tried on Hanfu (Chinese traditional costume), made mooncakes by themselves, drew Peking Opera facial makeup, did paper-cutting, learned calligraphy and national musical instruments from Chinese artists, and talked with diplomats from the Embassy, enjoying the festive atmosphere. They took photos, recorded videos and conducted live broadcasts online to share this wonderful journey.

KCIC displayed the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway. Chinese enterprises such as Aice and Mixue promoted locally produced cold drinks and ice cream.

Indonesian friends said that this open house was their first time to visit a foreign mission, allowing them to understand that diplomacy is not so “mysterious” and further become fans of the Chinese culture. They are willing to continue to understand China, make more Chinese friends, tell Chinese stories through their own perspectives, and contribute to the development of China-Indonesia relations and friendship between the two peoples.
