On 28 October 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia hosted a Chinese Tea Culture Event themed “A Thousand Years for A Pot of Tea”. Ambassador Wang Lutong, Madam Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of Indonesia, Mr. Budi Djiwandono, Vice Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives of Indonesia and his spouse Madam Mila Gunawan, Madam Rose Sultan, spouse of Mr. Sultan Najamudin, Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives of Indonesia, and Madam Nazneen Khubchandani, President of Women's International Club Jakarta, alongside with over 100 guests, including the spouses of Ambassadors to Indonesia and representatives of diplomatic missions in Indonesia, attended the event.
In his remarks, Ambassador Wang Lutong highlighted that the tea culture serves as a vital symbol and carrier of China’s rich history and cultural heritage, fostering exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese civilization and cultures worldwide. He expressed hope that, through Chinese tea, China and Indonesia will deepen cultural exchanges and mutual understanding, further advancing the building of the China-Indonesia community with a shared future.
Accompanied by the soothing melodies of traditional Chinese music, the guests immersed themselves in the captivating Chinese tea performance, explored the history and craftsmanship of fine tea, appreciated exquisite tea sets, and enjoyed the guqin (a classical Chinese zither) performance and sugar painting art. Ms. Nazneen Khubchandani, President of the Women’s International Club Jakarta, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Embassy for hosting the Chinese tea culture event.
