On the evening of 28 November 2024, H.E. Wang Lutong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Indonesia held a reception marking his arrival in Indonesia. H.E. Sultan Najamudin, Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives, H.E. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, H.E. Fadli Zon, Minister for Cultural Affairs, H.E. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister for Health, H.E. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister for Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and many Vice Ministers attended the reception. Also presenting at the event were over 800 friends from Indonesian Government, Parliament, political parties, think tanks, religious organizations, foreign diplomatic missions in Indonesia and representatives of Chinese companies, Chinese teachers and Chinese communities in Indonesia.
Ambassador Wang Lutong said in his remarks that China and Indonesia are friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners. Under the strategic guidance of the two Presidents, China-Indonesia relations have always been at a high level. Recently, President Prabowo paid a successful state visit to China, where the two Presidents reached an important consensus on building five pillars of political, economic, cultural, maritime, and security cooperation. The Joint Statement on Advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the China-Indonesia Community with a Shared Future was issued. This visit will further accelerate the fast growth of China-Indonesia relations and usher in a new era in building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future of regional and global influence. We face volatile time in global affairs. The world is divided and full of challenges. Dialogue and diplomacy are of vital importance. Both China and Indonesia are countries of Global South. We would work together to foster partnerships and boost cooperation both bilaterally and globally, not only to safeguard the common interests of developing countries, but also inject stability and certainty to the whole world.
Ambassador Wang Lutong said that as Ambassador, his key responsibility is to further strengthen bilateral communication and cooperation designed to enhance the well-being and prosperity of the two peoples. He is the new Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, but he would also like to be the Chinese Ambassador for Indonesia. He will serve as a bridge not only between the two governments, but also between business communities, and the two peoples.
H.E. Sultan Najamudin, Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives warmly welcomed Ambassador Wang Lutong. He said that to Indonesia, China is a good friend, and also a good partner for cooperation in various fields. And Indonesia and China are well recognized for holding similar positions in international affairs. During Ambassador Wang Lutong’s tenure of office in Indonesia, the Indonesian side is ready to work him to further strengthen bilateral relations for the well being of peoples of the two countries, as well as peoples of the region and the world.
The reception began with National anthems of Indonesia and China by Indonesian children’s choir. Ambassador Wang Lutong was warmly greeted by guests of the reception.
