Your Excellency Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan,

Your Excellency Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment,

Your Excellency Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Trade,

Your Excellency Deng Xijun, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Friends,

Good afternoon.

It is a great pleasure to have you with us online today to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and the Chinese Mission to ASEAN, welcome and thank you all!

73 years on, led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people strive to earn remarkable achievements. Particularly in the last decade, despite various challenges, we stay committed to our own path of development and have brought about a moderately prosperous society in all respects. We have alleviated all Chinese people out of absolute poverty. A new journey of socialism with Chinese characteristics is right ahead of us.

In the past 10 years,

- Further economic progress has been made. China’s GDP exceeded 100 trillion Yuan RMB, accounting for over 18% of the world economy, a rise from 11.3%. The per capita GDP is doubled from US$ 6,300 to over US$ 12,000. China contributes about 30% of global growth. Its economy has become more balanced, coordinated and sustained. The fundamentals of long-term growth remain unchanged.

- A new development paradigm is in the making. We follow the new vision of innovative, coordinated, green and open development for all. China is now the biggest new energy vehicle producer. It is home to the largest carbon market. We take care of our people to the best of our capacity in COVID-19. People’s life is our top priority. Every life matters.

- A new era has come in China’s foreign relations. We work for a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation. We pursue a community with a shared future for mankind. We uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. We advocate and practice true multilateralism. We help build an open world economy. By providing over 2.2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines, we fulfill our commitment to a global community of health for all.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Friends,

China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is growing at full steam. Last July, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President Joko Widodo paid a successful visit to China, becoming the first foreign head of state to visit China ever since Beijing Winter Olympics. Our two countries agree to march toward the China-Indonesia community with a shared future. Together, we will be pace setters of mutual benefit, common development, and South-South cooperation between developing countries.

Political, economic, people-to-people and maritime cooperation are four pillars of our bilateral relations. Our two countries are seeking greater synergy between development strategies. High-quality Belt and Road cooperation is underway. The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway is at the final stage of construction. Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor, Two Countries Twin Parks, and Qingshan Industrial Park progress steadily. Our two peoples are those who benefit.

Our practical cooperation has been fruitful. In the first half of this year, bilateral trade reached US$ 69.68 billion, a year-on-year increase of 29.91%. Indonesia’s export to China grew by 34.17%, a surplus of US$ 1.03 billion for Indonesia. China is the second biggest investor in Indonesia with US$ 3.6 billion direct investment made. With COVID-19 still there, we are doing our best to get people-to-people exchanges back to normal. Indonesian students have returned to China for colleges. China is the largest provider of vaccines to Indonesia. Our two countries decide to work more on vaccines and genomics, and set up a regional vaccine manufacturing hub in Indonesia.

As major developing countries, our two countries maintain close contact on multilateral arena. We both commit to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity. China supports Indonesia’s G20 Presidency and looks forward to a successful G20 summit. Indonesia supports Global Development Initiative and values Global Security Initiative. China appreciates that and is ready to deliver them with Indonesia.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Friends,

China-ASEAN relations have made great strides. Last November, President Xi Jinping chaired the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations. Our leaders announced the establishment of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. President Xi Jinping proposed to build together a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home. This is the way forward for China-ASEAN relations.

China and ASEAN jointly uphold multilateralism. China firmly supports ASEAN centrality. We cherish peace, development, independence and inclusiveness. We should see to it that open regionalism practiced, ASEAN-centered cooperation framework strengthened, and regional peace and stability secured.

China and ASEAN are working together for post-COVID recovery. Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is under implementation. China-ASEAN Free Trade Area expects further upgrade. We are seeking synergy between Belt and Road Initiative, Global Development Initiative and ASEAN Outlook AOIP. In the first eight months this year, trade between China and ASEAN grew by 13.3% to US$ 627.58 billion, a record high. Such a volume is larger than any other trade partners, by a bigger margin.

China and ASEAN are deepening all-round practical cooperation. New highlights include science and technology, innovation, digital economy, and green development. Our relations are stronger than ever. We are making headway toward a closer community with a shared future.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Friends,

The 20th CPC National Congress will be held on 16 October. This a crucial conference at a critical moment in China’s development. Under CPC’s leadership, Chinese people of all ethnic groups will endeavor to build a great modern socialist country. We will unite as one for the great renewal of the Chinese nation. A new starting point is in front of us. China-Indonesia and China-ASEAN relations will embrace more promising prospects. Together, we will deliver better lives to our peoples, a community with a shared future to Asia, and fairness, justice and prosperity to the world.

May China and Indonesia enjoy prosperity and its people happiness!

May China-Indonesia relations enjoy greater success!

May China-ASEAN relations up to a higher level!

Thank you.
