On November 12, Ambassador Xiao Qian met with Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, Chairman of Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). The two sides exchanged views on China-Indonesia science and technology (S&T) cooperation. Mrs. Nur Tri Aries, Acting Executive Secretary and Dr. Zainal Arifin, Deputy Chairman of LIPI attended the meeting.

As remarked by Ambassador Xiao Qian, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo, the China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has achieved remarkable progress. Given the promising prospect, it is high time to strengthen bilateral S&T cooperation. China is ready to work with Indonesia to further explore new cooperation areas and enhance cooperation on S&T, so as to advance the S&T sector and realize high quality development for both countries.

Chairman Handoko spoke highly of the recent progress in bilateral S&T cooperation. He expressed the readiness to continuously promote cooperation in such areas as personnel exchange, joint research and technology transfer, so that the cooperation can be translated into more benefits to the two peoples.
