Launching Ceremony of Joint Construction of Earthquake Early Warning System of Indonesia is Held in Jakarta

On 15 August, the launching ceremony of Joint Construction of Earthquake Early Warning System of Indonesia was held in Jakarta. The Institute of Care-Life officially handed over the equipment of Earthquake Early Warning System to BMKG. Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati, Head of BMKG, Mr. Zhou Bin, Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, Dr. Wang Tun, Director of the Institute of Care-Life attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

Counselor Zhou Bin extended his warmest congratulations to the successful handover of the Earthquake Early Warning System. As remarked by him, China and Indonesia are friendly neighbors across the sea. Both sides have enjoyed continuous progress in key fields of bilateral cooperation. As two disaster-prone countries, China and Indonesia have kept close cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation. China owns world-class technology in earthquake warning. He hoped the Institute of Care-Life and BMKG would successfully establish the Earthquake Early Warning System in Indonesia, so as to contribute to the disaster prevention of Indonesia and the well-being of the Indonesian people.

In her remarks, Prof. Dwikorita expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Chinese side for the contribution to establish the Earthquake Early Warning System in Indonesia. She said BMKG will work closely with the Chinese side to further improve the capability of earthquake monitoring and warning in Indonesia.
