On May 21st, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message to President Joko Widodo on behalf of the Chinese Government and people as well as in President Xi’s own name to congratulate President Joko Widodo’s re-election as the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

President Xi pointed out that as major developing countries, China and Indonesia share broad common interests at bilateral, regional and multilateral level, and are natural partners for cooperation. In recent years, by capitalizing on the opportunity of jointly building the Belt and Road, the two countries have actively promoted synergy between respective development strategies and achieved notable progress in bilateral practical cooperation. The China-Indonesia relationship has entered a new stage featuring rapid growth. President Xi attached great importance to the China-Indonesia relationship, and is ready to work with President Joko Widodo, on the foundation built over the past five years, to elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to an even greater height so as to deliver more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.
