Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping Chairs the 4th China-Indonesia Counterterrorism Consultation

From November 29 to 30, 2015, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping and Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Saud Usman Nasution of Indonesia co-chaired the 4th China-Indonesia counterterrorism consultation. Both sides mainly exchanged views on China-Indonesia relations, respective counterterrorism situation, counter-terrorism cooperation between the two countries and other issues.

Cheng Guoping expressed that recent years have witnessed a comprehensive and rapid development of China-Indonesia relations and fruitful results from bilateral cooperation in all areas. Counterterrorism cooperation has become a major component of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. At present, the international and regional counterterrorism situations are becoming more severe and complicated. Both sides should further strengthen counterterrorism and security cooperation to protect the common security and interests of both countries.

Saud Usman Nasution noted that Indonesia-China relations now enjoy a sound momentum of development, with close cooperation in economy, security, culture and other areas. The Indonesian side is willing to, together with the Chinese side, enhance counterterrorism exchanges and cooperation, combat terrorist threats, safeguard the security and stability of both countries and the region and constantly enrich the connotations of bilateral relations.
