Chinese Leaders Send Message of Condolence Over Earthquakes and Tsunami in Indoensia

On July 18, 2006, H.E. Mr. Hu Jingtao, President of the People's Republic of China and H.E. Mr. Li Zhaoxing, Foreign Minister of the People's Repubilic of China send a message of condolence respectively to H.E. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia and H.E. Dr. Hassan Wirajuda Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia over the earthquakes and ensuing tsunami that occurred near the Jawa Island.

Your Excellency,   

I am shocked to learn that strong earthquakes and ensuing tsunami have taken place near the Jawa Island, causing heavy casualties and loss of property. On behalf of the Chinese Government and people, I wish to extend to Your Excellency and, through Your Excellency to the families of the victims, the deep sympathy and sincere solicitude. I am confident that under Your Excellency's leadership, the people in the disaster-stricken region will certainly overcome the difficulties and rebuild their homeland.
