JAKARTA, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's upcoming visit to Indonesia will boost the two countries' strategic partnership and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Zhang Qiyue told reporters in a recent interview.

Premier Wen Jiabao is due in Indonesia from April 29 to 30, the second leg of his Southeast Asian trip, which also takes him to Malaysia.

During his first official visit to Indonesia, Wen will hold talks with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, meet with other Indonesian leaders, attend an economic forum and give a policy speech.

As the largest economy in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the current rotating chair of the organization, Indonesia plays an important role in China-ASEAN relationship, ASEAN integration and regional cooperation, said Ambassador Zhang.

Indonesia has posted high economic growth in the past few years. It achieved a 6.1 percent growth last year, with per capita GDP surpassing 3,000 U.S. dollars and foreign exchange reserves exceeding 100 billion U.S. dollars.

In recent years, Indonesia has undergone a series of economic and social changes while maintaining political stability and improving its security situation, said Zhang, adding that the Indonesian people have a strong desire for stability and development.

China and Indonesia are both big developing countries in Asia. They share the same task of further developing economy and improving people's livelihoods. Therefore the two countries share broad common interests in economic development, poverty reduction, energy and food security, climate change and other major issues, she said.

The ambassador also said the two countries are both committed to deepening regional cooperation, maintaining regional peace and stability, and resolving problems through dialogues and negotiations.

The Chinese-Indonesian relations have witnessed healthy and rapid development in recent years. The two countries have established the dialogue mechanism at vice premier level and other mechanisms to promote bilateral cooperation in economic, defense, maritime and cultural affairs, Zhang said.

The implementation of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area has greatly boosted the bilateral trade between the two countries, with the volume reaching 42.75 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, an increase of over 50 percent over the previous year. More than 1,000 Chinese enterprises have invested in Indonesia, with their business engaged in infrastructure, electricity, energy, communication, agriculture, manufacture and other sectors.

Ambassador Zhang said she believed China-Indonesia relations enjoy a bright future and promise more benefits for the two countries' peoples, which will also contribute more to regional peace and stability.
