On August 8, Ambassador Wang Lutong attended and delivered a speech at the Open House event of the “Tan Kah Kee” research vessel, jointly organized by Xiamen University，IPB University and National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) . Prof. Amarulla Octavian, Deputy Chair BRIN, Prof. Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University, and Prof. Shi Dalin, Vice President of Xiamen University were present.

Ambassador Wang stated in his remarks that China and Indonesia have established a solid foundation for cooperation in the field of marine science and technology. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia. It is hoped that scientists from both countries will work together to build a blue economy partnership, and to contribute to the sustainable economic and social development of both nations. The visit of the “Tan Kah Kee” research vessel to Indonesia serves as an important bridge for exchanges between university students from both countries, and could be start of more discussion, exchanges and cooperation.

Deputy Chair Prof. Amarulla expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia for its long-standing support of China-Indonesia cooperation in the field of marine science, and it is hoped that scientists from both countries would continue to deepen their collaboration in the marine sector in the future.

During the event, Ambassador Wang and other guests boarded the “Tan Kah Kee” for a tour and had warm interactions with students from Xiamen University.
