Your Excellency Agus Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development,

Distinguished Ambassadors,

Dear Chinese citizens and Chinese communities in Indonesia,

Ladies and gentlemen, Friends,

Good evening!

It is a great pleasure to join you here to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, I extend my warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all our distinguished guests!

Through trials and tribulations, we have achieved remarkable accomplishments. Over the past 76 years, led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people of all ethnic groups have worked hard and forged ahead, creating two rare miracles in the world: rapid economic development and long-term social stability. In the past decade, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with President Xi Jinping at its core, China has won the battle against poverty, built a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and realized the first centenary goal. China’s economy, the second largest in the world, contributes around 30% to global growth. Technological innovation advances on all fronts. New quality productive forces are taking shape at a faster pace. We are now on a new journey of advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization. This year, the CPC launched education campaign to fully implement the guiding principles of the Eight-point Decision on improving conduct, providing strong assurance for achieving national rejuvenation.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends,

China and Indonesia are friendly neighbors. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between our two countries. Under the strategic guidance of our two Presidents, China–Indonesia relations have maintained strong momentum of growth. President Prabowo made it to China for the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, which reflects his great importance attached to our bilateral relations and the genuine friendship shown to the Chinese peoples. This year, with our joint efforts, traditional friendship has continued to deepen and cooperation across the board has expanded.

Political mutual trust has been further consolidated. Guided by head-of-state diplomacy, President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo met on several occasions, charting the course for our relations. The Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue mechanism was put in place. The first Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Meeting (“2+2”) was held. Such close high-level exchanges have injected strong momentum into our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. Whoosh has carried over 10 million passengers, with trains running safely for more than 4.63 million kilometers. A number of major projects such as the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” and livelihood projects have been implemented. In 2024, bilateral trade reached 147.8 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. China has been Indonesia’s largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years and one of the top three sources of foreign investment for nine years in a row. Our cooperation in traditional fields such as infrastructure, energy, and mining continues to strengthen, while new areas such as AI and EVs are thriving.

People-to-people exchanges are increasingly vibrant. China introduces a 240-hour visa-free transit policy for Indonesians. The two countries have signed an MoU on tourism cooperation. The Chinese Corner at Istiqlal successfully organized four sessions of Chinese language training, which are very popular with full enrollment each time. Cultural icons like Labubu have gained popularity. Tonight, the Zhejiang Wu Opera Troupe will present traditional performances to showcase the diversity of Chinese culture. In 2024, 1.44 million Chinese tourists visited Indonesia, double the number of 2023, to experience local customs and traditions.

Multilateral cooperation makes steady progress. This year, Indonesia joined BRICS, injecting new impetus into South–South cooperation. Foreign Minister Sugiono, representing President Prabowo, attended the SCO Summit in Tianjin. During this summit, President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), and highlighted its five principles of adhering to sovereign equality, abiding by international rule of law, practicing multilateralism, advocating the people-centered approach, and focusing on taking real actions. GGI contributes China’s wisdom and solutions to better global governance. China is ready to work with Indonesia to strengthen communication and coordination at multilateral platforms such as ASEAN and BRICS, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and address global challenges.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends,

The past has unfolded like a splendid tapestry, and the future holds even greater promise. Looking ahead, China is ready to further synergize development strategies with Indonesia, enhance friendly exchanges at all levels, and expand practical cooperation across fields. We will continue to be good friends and partners, stand together through thick and thin, deepen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and build an even closer China–Indonesia community with a shared future, so as to deliver more benefits to our two peoples.

Now I would like to propose a toast:

To the prosperity of both China and Indonesia,

To the everlasting China–Indonesia friendship,

To world peace and prosperity,

To the health of all our distinguished guests and your families,

Cheers!
