On the evening of 27 July 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia held a reception in Jakarta to celebrate the 99th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Ambassador Wang Lutong and diplomats of the Chinese Embassy and Chinese Mission to ASEAN attended the reception. More than 800 guests were present, including representative of the Indonesian Minister of Defence, Lt General Rui Duarte, Inspector General of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, political and military officials, diplomats of other countries, and representatives of overseas Chinese communities in Indonesia.

Sen. Col. Xu Sheng, Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, delivered remarks at the reception. He pointed out that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It is also a critical year for securing the final victory to achieve the centenary goal of the CPLA. Standing at this pivotal juncture for building a strong military, the CPLA will follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Strengthening the Military, stay focused on the fundamental objective of being able to fight and win, and strive to forge an elite force that is ready for action and victory at all times. Under the strategic guidance of two presidents, China-Indonesia defense relations have seen substantive growth and this will provide strong support for the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Lt. General Rui Duarte attended the reception on behalf of the Indonesian Minister of Defence and delivered remarks. He expressed his best wishes for the 99th Anniversary of the CPLA, emphasizing that defence cooperation between China and Indonesia not only helps enhance mutual understanding between the two militaries, but also contributes positively to the development of bilateral relations and to regional peace and prosperity. Indonesia stands ready to continue strengthening defence communication and cooperation with China and to work together in making greater contributions to maintaining regional peace and stability.

The reception also featured a themed photo exhibition. The guests expressed warm congratulations on the 99th anniversary of the founding of the PLA and the hope that the two sides would work together to make greater contributions to enhancing the well-being of the two peoples and safeguarding regional peace and stability.
